The aim - will be to improve our understanding of the key settings for street work in a practical and non competitive way that allows everyone to progress at their pace, supported 1:1 as well as in the group

The Location - Black Country Museum Dudley Our base will be the Black Country Museum Dudley, an award winning living museum that captures the heart of the Black Country from generations past. This workshop will start at 10.30am and aim to finish around 3.30-4pm. The museum has a wonderful array of working buildings and characters from times gone by. Black and white photography is a great genre and we will work with the sites many attractions, people and buildings to create our images. Ride ( & photograph) the fairground , go back to school and go down the mine (no photography inside but plenty around the pithead). Visit the forge and see how anchor chains were made. Go to church or worship at the pub if you prefer. So many photographic and historical opportunities on what will be a very full day. The price includes an A4 photographic print of your work as a memento.

Important aspects.

Fitness levels – We will be walking around the museum, as well as travelling by tram, bus and canal barge so a reasonable level of fitness or mobility will be fine.

Photographic kit – we will work mostly handheld so no need for tripods or long lenses, we will tend to need faster settings. Alongside your camera and lenses, spare batteries and memory cards please and a polarising filter if you have one will be fine

Clothing – we are going to be on foot so you should work on layers (always a good idea). A waterproof coat is advised – and comfy boots or walking shoes.. T shirts and fleeces are a good idea as it could be chilly or hot, often in the same hour.

Personal insurance – talking of everything being covered you might want to take out personal insurance (if you don’t have a policy already) to cover your payment if you are not able to come at the last minute as well as insurance for any damage/loss to your kit.

If all of the above is included What’s not

  •  Travel to and from The Museum
  • Entrance fee (currently £17.95)
  •  All meals, drinks and snacks.
  •  Personal and equipment insurance

So, there you are, a great chance to enjoy developing your photography and take in the wonderful streets and attractions of the Black Country Museumall on one site whilst having some fun.
